Leaving Iowa

 

This play runs every night at 7:30, July 13-23 except Sunday, July 17.

A sentimental comedy, Leaving Iowa is written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton.    Don Browning is a writer who returns home to take his father’s ashes to his childhood home in  Mt. Union, Iowa.  Once there he discovers the house is now a grocery store, so where to take dad’s ashes?   The play evolves with flashbacks of the family road trips, leading Don and the audience to realize the importance of family togetherness. 

Directed by Terry Wiesner, the characters ready for their trip are:  Front seat driver Bob Rogers playing Dad, Front seat passenger Teresa Olejniczak  playing Mom.  Amanda Stearns as sister and Nick Sirek as Don ride in the back seat.  Alongside the car are Dave Mickelson and Holly Wiesner who play numerous roles of folks the Browning’s meet along the way.
