On Golden Pond

The award winning  play On Golden Pond  graced the Red Barn Theatre stage Wednesday June 1 through 11.

On Golden Pond is a love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer as they return to their summer home on Golden Pond in Maine for the 48th year.  Norman Thayer, Jr. played by Bill Koslofsky is an older professor with heart palpitations and a failing memory.  Meg Atkins portrays Ethel, younger wife of 10 years,  who delights in the small things of life.   Jeff Martin plays Charlie Martin, the mailman.   They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter Chelsea played by Mary Hankins with her fiance Billy Ray, cast member Tommy Yousten.   Announcing a trip to Europe they are leaving his teenage son young Billy Ray played in alternate performances by Tanner Ritchie and Lee Pisa with Norman and Ethel for the summer.   Through the summer the boy becomes the “grandchild” they have always longed for, and through their experiences together Ethel and Norman realize the importance of time and family.

Holly Wiesner, recent graduate of UW Parkside with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts, directs this show.  Holly has been active in the Red Barn Theatre since childhood as she is a third generation Wiesner  to act and direct.  Previously her grandmother Maxine and her father Terry both worked with Nina Klauss, the founder .  They continued to contribute their talents and now Terry and Holly carry on the tradition.
