The Red Barn Theatre opens its summer season on Wednesday, May 28 with “Butterflies Are Free,” a heart touching romantic comedy with some adult themes.  Written by Leonard Gershe and directed by Chris Hopkins-Hile and Jeff Hile of Cumberland, Mike Kelly (Rice Lake) and Marina Terenzi (Detroit, MI) headline the cast as Don Baker and Jill Tanner. Don, an aspiring songwriter, defies his overprotective mother and moves into his own NYC apartment next door to free-spirited Jill, a quirky young actress.  The results are uproarious and poignant. Completing the cast is Connie Olson (Chetek) as Mrs. Baker and Rick Snyder (Weyerhaeuser) as Ralph Austin.

Featured during this show in the Red Barn Gallery is Chetek mixed media artist Melissa Owens whose creative work often focuses on felt and wood.
