This Tony award winning parody of American Musical Comedy that takes the audience back to the Roaring 20’s, the Charleston, and tap dancing will be staged at the Red Barn Theatre July 11-21 st .
Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison with the book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar this musical is a show within a show.
You will meet a musical theatre fan ( Nick Sirek) as he plays a record of his favorite fictional 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone . The show comes to life onstage as you meet the actors singing and dancing.
The premise of the show and characters are introduced on the day of the wedding of debonaire Robert Martin ( John Lloyd) to Broadway star Janet Van De Graff (Haley Hong-Johnson). Attending the
ceremony are the hostess Mrs. Tottendale (Heidi Hong), her loyal employee Underling (Wayne Olson),George, the Best Man (Jeremy Westin),Broadway Producer Feldzieg (Bob Rogers), flapper Kitty
(Heidi Sirek Small), two gangsters disguised as pastry chefs ( Carol and Ed Hougdahl), a famed Latin lover, Aldolpho (Brandon Brown) Janet’s Chaperone (Nancy Dutmer), Trix, the aviatrix, (Jill Stearns)
and Chorus members Allison Edwards, and Gail Gifford.
Teaming up as Director/Choreographer and Musical Director for this 5 time Tony Award winning show are Cathy Jones Wolf and John Dutmer. The Orchestration for The Drowsy Chaperone includes Kris
Knutson on Keyboard, Jim Hurst, Drums, Monika Audette, Clarinet, John Dutmer, Piano, and Patty Smith, Clarinet and Saxophone.
