May 31 - June 10

The Tony Award nominated  musical Pump Boys and Dinettes takes place in the present time in a small town in North Carolina .  Jeremy Westin takes the role of Jackson on Lead guitar while John Dutmer plays piano as LM.  Dave Ruda , the Bass player, is the role of Eddie while Dave Anderson is Jim, the Rhythm guitarist.  These fellas work at a gas station while Haley Hong Johnson and Allison Rick take the roles of

Prudie, and Rhetta , the waitresses that own the Double Cupp Diner across the road.   This is the place with heartbreak , hilarity and music where the action is.

Pump Boys and Dinettes is written by a performance group of the same name including John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schmmel and Jim Wann.  Directed by Terry Wiesner with  Musical Director John Dutmer you will be delighted by songs with titles such as: “Takin It Slow”, “Pump Boys”, “Best Man”, “Menu Song” and “Farmer Tan”.

The New York Times review noted Pump Boys and Dinettes as a “triumph of ensemble playing that doesn’t merely celebrate the value of friendship and life’s simple pleasures, it embodies them.”

During intermission the Red Barn Theatre features local artists in the Gallery/Concession area for each show.   “Story Telling Through Art” by CJ Conner of Chetek  is our first artist to display.
