The award-winning musical “Come From Away” opens at the Red Barn Theatre in Rice Lake, WI on July 8 and runs through July 18. It tells a story of resilience, kindness, and unexpected friendships in a time of crisis.  When the unexpected disaster of September 11, 2001 halts air travel around the world into the US, the people of Gander, Newfoundland come together to welcome those who have been stranded in their town. This musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein is based on that true story.

 

Cathy Jones-Wolf  directs and choreographs a cast of 12 Hardscrabble Players who each take on multiple roles (and in real life fittingly come from multiple communities). Amanda Arnold (River Falls) portrays Beverly/Annette/Reporter; Mariah Humbert (Chetek) plays Diane/Crystal/Brenda; Holly Dalsveen (Cameron) is Hannah/Margie/Mickey; Micah Gonderzik (Rice Lake) plays Janice/Britney/Flight Attendant; Carol Hougdahl (Turtle Lake) plays Bonnie/Martha; Amanda Kutyba (Rice Lake) portrays Beulah/Delores/Customs Officer; Terry Wiesner (Barron) plays Claude/Derm/Brenda’s Brother/Eddie; Mike Kelly (Rice Lake) is Kevin T./Garth/President Bush; Jeff Dalsveen (Cameron) portrays Kevin J./Dwight/Ali; Philip Warner (Rice Lake) is Nick/Doug/Officer Stephenson; Paul Baribeau (Rice Lake) plays Oz/Joey/Customs Officer/Rabbi/ and Zackary Arneson (Rice Lake) portrays Bob/Muhumza/Captain Bristol.

 

Kris Knutson is the Music Director and the Set Designer is Boyd Stearns.  Multi-talented Jim Adams from Chetek is the featured artist in the Gallery with a variety of his artwork.
